Do not buy these !!!
I really do like Avent products and have used them with my two children but there seems to be an issue in the coloring of the bottles. They have a brown tinge to them, and look dirty! The cost on amozon is way better than any store price, so if you still like Avent like I do, and you don't mind a lil discoloration, do not buy these . . . anywhere else!!!

Save your money, save your clothing, save your time
The only good thing that came out of purchasing Avent bottles is that it was a true test of tenacity and sheer will which helped build character.
I originally bought the Avent bottles when I began supplementing breast milk with formula, which was 13 mths ago. Despite them leaking from day one, I tolerated them until I called Philips, whose rep sent me their sippy cups, stating the nipples would work just as well. So without any other option at the time, I went with it. Turns out, the nipples fit just fine, but the Avent sippy cups also leaked! Again, I endured the milk-soaked shirts, stained car seats, sofa cushions, added laundry, sticky everything just so our son could continue with the bottles he's gotten accustomed to. After months of leaking sippy cups, I decided to throw in the towel and asked for some sort of restitution for these shabby bottles, which they flatly do not do.
If you're looking for bottles, my advice to you as a seasoned Avent bottle user is to save your money (and your sanity) and buy something else. I now use Bornfree and they are FANTASTIC!! You never know how bad you had it until something good comes along!!

Leaks, leaks, and more leaks
Count me as another frustrated parent who can't seem to solve the leak problem. Although I think it has something to do with the top/nipple portion of the bottle, it really doesn't matter. My wife are too cheap to trash these as our daughter will soon be graduating to sippy cups. This is my very first review of any product or book and was thus so profoundly motivated to share my extreme sense of frustration. Please let this and the other complaints warn prospective buyers to stay away from this defective product. Avent needs to get their act together because I am now making it my mission to dissuade parents from ever buying these bottles.

Great Bottles So Far....
We've been using Avent bottles for our 6-month old since he was born and have generally been very pleased with them - aside from an occasional leak. We switched to these ones, with the "Extra Durable" plastic, when we went from 4oz to 9oz bottles. We primarily switched so we didn't have that annoying extra ring to wash for every bottle.. We've been using these for about 3 months and are very happy with them; and knock-on-wood, we've had very few leaks with these compared to the older version bottles that have the extra ring.
I've read alot of reviews of folks complaining about the leaks and am wondering if they are actually talking about the older version of the bottles or if we have just been lucky.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy these again or recommend them to someone.

100% leaking bottle
I bought 6 bottles and they all leak ! Don't waste your money unless you are thinking to let your baby to have "milk bath" every 2 hours. What a brand! -5 stars.

Garbage
Shape, feel, and concept all fine, but in practice these bottles just aren't worth the risk. Many people have said they love Avent bottles and have had no problems with them, but we've had nothing but trouble with the ten we own. They leak. Not necessarily every time, but more often than not. It does help to remove the nipple, wet it, and re-insert it into the ring, but this is a cumbersome, annoying operation for bottles that cost this much. And the leaking seems to get worse with age (our baby is a whopping five months old, and we have to use the nipple-wetting trick 1-2 times per feeding).
We have too much invested in these bottles to switch, but if we could send our past selves a message, we'd tell ourselves to choose a different brand. In the case of Avent bottles, you get the opposite of what your pay for.

Buy Dr. Brown's instead
Do not buy these bottles unless your babies can absorb formula through their skin. The lids leaked within just one week. Further, the bottles are not finely graded, so when you are trying to keep track of how much a newborn is eating, it's not very accurate. The leaking was the most annoying thing to deal with on top of everything else. I recommend Dr. Brown's starter set instead.

There should only be one way to screw on the lids--the right way
I received this as gift but I will not buy more avent bottles. There should only be one way to screw on the lids--the right way. Yes, there are tricks to putting them on properly but who wants to mess with that at 3am in the dim lighting? And who wants to have to test whether the bottle is leaking over the sink before feeding to your crying baby? And who wants to teach other care providers the tricks to screwing the lids on properly which may or may not work all of the time? Bottom line is that there are better bottles out there. I like the avent nipples and brand but it doesn't seem too challenging or demanding to request a bottle that doesn't need tricks in order not to leak all over your child's outfit, your couch, your outfit and whatever else might be around.
I didn't receive the powder dispenser with my set. I don't think it was purchased from Amazon though. I bought it separately and really like it because it can be used as a snack dispenser later on. Also, I bought 2 more level 1 nipples since our baby gags on the level 2 medium flow nipples.
So we still use the avent bottles but I use all of my other bottles first. Since I'm breastfeeding and bottle feeding, I was looking for a bottle/nipple that would simulate the breast as much as possible. I just bought playtex ventaires (wide bottles with slow flow nipples) and I love them. They are more affordable and they have similar nipples to the avent bottles.

A Leaky Mess!
These bottles are horrible and leak all the time! As first time parents we didn't know why our daughter was soaked after feeding until we realized that it was because the bottles leak. Even when you check to make sure and there is no sign of leaking, I've given a bottle to my daughter only to have it start leaking. There is nothing worse than listening to your child scream beacuse they are hungry, but you can't get their bottle to stop leaking. I switched over to the Platex bottles with the drop in liners and I'm so happy now (and so is my daughter!)Don't waste your money!

newer clean bottles with a ring to avoid leaking out there
We bought these last year and they leak sometimes depends on the nipple.
but just bought a new batch that is clear and has a ring to avoid leaks...
check it out..
btw: we bought dr browns, born free, avent.
baby love avent, and then born free
